The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and Spanish Point Technologies today announced the successful rollout of the Matching Engine software solution, making IMRO one of the first Performing Rights Organisations (PROs) globally to enhance its established cloud-based infrastructure with an advanced digital royalty system spanning repertoire management, usage ingestion, matching and distribution processing.

The new platform, which went live in July 2025, allows IMRO to process streaming, broadcast and live performance data in under 24 hours, a task that previously took three to four days. For IMRO’s members [songwriters, composers and copyright holders] this means faster, more accurate royalty payments and a better overall service experience.

“Getting royalties to our members quickly, accurately and fairly is what matters most,” said Victor Finn, Chief Executive, IMRO. “By investing in the Matching Engine, IMRO is not only delivering a better service, but we are also future proofing our systems for the growing demands of tomorrow’s music industry.”

Developed by Spanish Point, the Matching Engine is an enterprise software solution for international Collective Management Organisations in the music industry. It applies advanced AI and global industry standards to handle the vast amounts of data generated by digital music consumption. By enhancing its long-standing cloud infrastructure, IMRO can seamlessly scale with demand, while offering members and staff a modern, intuitive digital interface.

Key benefits for members:

  • Processing in hours, not days; processing that once took 3-4 days is now completed in under 24 hours
  • Greater accuracy; AI-driven matching ensures every stream, broadcast and performance is captured
  • Future-ready systems; scalable and highly configurable cloud technology adapts to industry growth without costly hardware
  • Better service; a modern digital interface makes it easier to track works and payments

“We’re proud to partner with IMRO as the first organisation worldwide to roll out the Matching Engine across repertoire management, usage ingestion, matching, and distribution processing,” said John Corley, Chief Executive Officer, Spanish Point Technologies. “The software ensures songwriters, composers and copyright holders are paid every royalty they are owed, while giving IMRO the high level of automation and robust infrastructure required to adapt and grow for years to come.”

Launched in 2018, the Matching Engine’s customer-base has expanded across thirteen countries in Europe and North America. Matching Engine customers distribute over €2.6 billion in royalties annually, ensuring fair remuneration for 758,000 rightsholders and creators worldwide.

This rollout follows IMRO’s recent music industry report, which highlighted the significant cultural and economic value that music provides. By investing in the most advanced digital systems, IMRO is reaffirming its commitment to supporting songwriters, composers, copyright holders and music users worldwide.
